When you have notable discoloration that doesn’t respond to conventional whitening treatments, misshapen teeth, chips, or some irregularities in size, dental veneers are the answer. These wafer-thin shells fit right over your natural teeth to give you a uniform, sparkling smile.

Mark Ranzinger, DDS is a highly skilled and well-respected oral health care expert who is passionate about providing dental care that keeps your mouth healthy and provides the vibrant smile you deserve. That’s why he often recommends patients at her thriving practice, Blakeney Dental in Charlotte, North Carolina, consider veneers to correct a wide variety of smile issues.

Veneers address numerous smile issues

Veneers are an effective way to create an amazing smile. They provide a solution for stained

and discolored teeth, as well as:

  • Reshape crooked teeth

  • Correct teeth that are too pointy or otherwise unusually shaped

  • Repair chipped or worn teeth

  • Resize teeth that are too small or too large for a uniform smile

  • Fill in spaces between your teeth that detract from a healthy, vibrant smile

Veneers have advantages

Porcelain veneers offer a myriad of value to your smile. Among the many benefits of veneers:

  • They’re stain resistant

  • They mimic the light-reflecting quality of teeth, contributing to their extremely natural appearance

  • They’re strong and durable

  • They don’t require the extensive tooth reshaping, as with a dental crown

  • They’re easy to care for, just brush and floss as you do with the rest of your teeth

Veneers don’t tend to irritate gum tissue, either. They’re comfortable and beautiful. We’re able to customize the shade of your porcelain veneers, leaving you with a “just right” tooth color that complements rather than overpowers your appearance.

Candidates for veneers

Veneers are an excellent choice for many individuals who desire a fix for a less than appealing smile. Not everyone, however, is a perfect candidate. Veneers are not a good choice for teeth that are severely decayed or fractured. Your teeth must have adequate enamel, too. If not, the veneer cannot bond to the natural tooth.

Rely on Dr. Ranzinger’s skill and expertise to correctly identify whether veneers are a good choice for you. He’s a veneer expert and may recommend a different type of restoration or

combine veneers with other techniques to provide the smile makeover you’re seeking.

Veneer application process

Dr. Ranzinger consults with you one-on-one to determine your smile goals. He’ll then make

recommendations based upon the overall health of your teeth and your desired outcome.

For example, because porcelain veneers don’t respond to whitening and it’s important to match the veneer color to your natural teeth, he may suggest a whitening treatment before you start the process. If he observes issues with gum disease or other dental health problems, he’ll recommend treating those before starting your veneer makeover.

When you’re teeth are healthy, it takes two visits for veneers to be applied. During the first appointment, we prep the teeth and create a mold that’s sent to a dental lab, which manufactures the veneers according to Dr. Ranziger’s instructions. We’ll also choose the color for your new smile during the initial visit.

After your custom veneers arrive at the office, you come in to have the veneers positioned and further customized in terms of shape and size. The porcelain veneers are bonded securely in place with a special dental cement. The entire process is accomplished without drilling or anesthesia.

If you want to find out if veneers are the right option for you, call or schedule your appointment online today at Blakeney Dental. Dr. Mark Ranzinger provides excellent care when it comes to all your dental health needs and gladly welcomes children and adults to his top-rated practice.
